About "The Bargain Chick"

Welcome to my blog!

My name is Jessica, I'm a work at home mom with 5 kids and one adorable dog :) My kids range in age from 6-17 years old. They are growing up fast! I was born, raised, and currently live in Southwest Washington and absolutely love it. I have been a blogger for about 10 years now, operating a family blog over at www.theulloms.com - with lots of different topics and things I talk about. I decided that it was time to move my bargain hunting adventures OFF my family blog and move it over to a new blog, simply devoted to bargains and freebies. People that want to read about our family adventures, can do so without the other stuff and those of you that just want to read my deal finds, can skip over the family stuff :)

Over the past couple of years, we've really tightened the reigns on our budget, mostly out of necessity. Even though we seem to have the same type of income we did 5 years ago, it seems like we really aren't spreading it out as far as we used to. We just don't have any extra money after the main bills are paid. Yet, we still have children that like to snack, household products we depend on to clean our clothes, toilets, dishes, activities we like to participate in, birthdays and special occasions we enjoy celebrating, etc. I have found that we can do all these things for a fraction of what I used to spend. So... instead of having to "cut" out a lot of things from our lives, we just plan things out a little better. Stock up on free or extremely inexpensive staples and products. Take time to clip coupons and possibly visit a couple of different stores to take advantage of deals that are worth it.

I am still learning the in's and out's of bargain hunting, but I have to say just a few small changes in the way I do things and it's REALLY making a difference in our spending.

My philosophy has become, "free or cheap only". If it's not on sale and I don't have coupon, I'm probably not going to buy it. And the funny thing is, we really don't even notice any type of cutbacks. I'm buying the SAME stuff pretty much, just sticking to that philosophy.

So that is my little introduction. I hope this blog proves to be useful for you :)
